Meet the Authors
Britt Phoenix and Connie Smeaton are the mother-daughter team behind FireKing Grill.
Britt Phoenix
Writer, Graphic Designer
Britt Phoenix is from Chilliwack, BC, Canada, and was raised in Rosedale, a farming community within Chilliwack.
Her interests include camping, playing hockey, adventuring with her dogs, and enjoying good food.
She has a passion for computers and is a self-taught graphic designer, writer, and web developer.
She shares her mom’s passion for Jadeite dishes and co-launched “firekinggrill dot com” in 2021 to share their knowledge with other collectors.
With over 700 pieces of Depression Glass (mostly Jadeite dishes) in their collection, Britt enjoys using her Jadeite dishes daily, and encourages other collectors to do the same.
Through co-authoring The Fire-King Jade-ite Collector’s Guide, her goal is to help preserve the history of Jadeite dishes and help collectors get the most out of their Jadeite dishes.
Connie Smeaton
Set Designer, Photographer
Connie is the creative eye behind FireKing Grill’s beautiful Jadeite dish tablescapes.
She enjoys interior design and creates tablescapes for many family occasions.
Born and raised in Chilliwack, BC, Connie lives with her husband, Claude, their cat, and two dogs.
When not creating tablescapes and hunting for Jadeite dishes, Connie is an animal lover and dog trainer, working with challenging dogs.
Connie’s Jadeite obsession began young. She aims to buy every Jadeite dish she finds, and hopes to inspire other collectors to fully use and display their collections.

Really enjoying the old advertising. This is a good addition to your FireKing library. This book has a lot of good general information to help in identifying pieces. I wish the pieces in the pictures would have been identified but other quite wonderful.

Jadeite is a classic among vintage collectors and for good reason. (It’s hard not to be drawn to its cheerful color!) This book provides the story behind Fire-King’s line of Jadeite! Take a look at the patterns they produced and years each was made. I loved the section of logos through the years! I’d be lying if I said I didn’t compare the logos of some of my pieces to the pictures! The book doesn’t just include the history but also ways to incorporate and enjoy your collection!
